  1. Just wanted to let you know I really like your new blog. I’ve created a new category on my front page called “Charter Schools” and placed a link to your blog under that category. I will look forward to reading your posts, and I learned a lot just by reading through the posts you’ve written up until now. You ought to consider writing an article for The Daily Riff (one of the best on-line education magazines, also free to read); I think they would appreciate what you have to say.

  2. Ed:

I like it too. Let’s support each other. I just clicked follow Ed Buzz. I invite you to do the same with Chasing-Excellence. You have a great blog, Ed!

Oops, I forgot to mention this: If you don’t mind reading some slightly heavy stuff, given your professional background, here is book, “Paradoxes of Group Life,” by Kenwyn Smith and David Berg, I would highly recommend. The tagline is: Understanding conflict, paralysis, and movement in group dynamics.

  22. Ed, thank you for the like on our recent post on student motivation and focus. As far as your recent piece on honesty, you hit the nail in the head with one word; transparency. Whether it be charter schools, big banks, or government, we need to hold people accountable for their actions. As an educator, I am held accountable by my students, staff, board, and community. We are in the business of educating our youth, preparing them to lead the next generation. I am confident we can achieve this goal by being held accountable. Imagine what would happen if government and banks were also help accountable for their actions. What a wonderful world this would be.

    • The Ed Buzz says:

I agree we should be accountable. However, I think we need to change our focus and be accountable for intent and effort. Results can be false indicators of how successful we really are. But, as long as we grind away, our motives are true and we do things the right way, we will get the results.

  24. Thank you for liking my blog. I lived in Southern California for 10 years and would like to know more about what direction education is taking there. I, too, am an educator, but in higher education. What the schools put out we get so we are part of the same food chain. I am always interested in elevating the standards and finding out new ways to improve performance. Thanks again.
